June 30, 2010 - Larry Hogan, former Ehrlich Cabinet Member, applauds Governor Ehrlich's announcement that Mary Kane will be the his running mate.
"I think Bob Ehrlich made a great decision regarding his running mate," said Hogan. "Mary Kane is an excellent choice for Lt. Governor. She brings with her government experience, and a business background having worked with the Chamber of Commerce."
"I was involved in appointing Mary as Secretary of State and served side by side with her in the Ehrlich cabinet for four years," Hogan said. "Mary and her husband John have been good friends for many years. She's a terrific woman."
"I am excited about this ticket and I'm ready to do whatever I can to help this team win in November and I'm encouraging all my friends and supporters to do the same," Hogan concluded.
Larry Hogan emerged as the Republican frontrunner for Governor before Ehrlich decided to enter the race. Ehrlich called Hogan one of the few Republicans in Maryland who could win. Maryland's most powerful Democrat, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called Hogan the toughest opponent he faced in his entire political career.
In recent weeks, there was much speculation that Hogan was considered a leading candidate to be Ehrlich's running mate.
